Just Say Yes! How a Few Kindness Ambassadors are using a ShortStack App to Reboot Valentine’s Day into “Generosity Day”

In 2008, following a subway encounter with a homeless veteran, New Yorker Sasha Dichter had a revelation that he should rebrand Valentine’s Day. Dichter, who works for the nonprofit Acumen Fund (you can read more about Dichter’s aha moment here on Fast Company), “hatched a plan to create “Generosity Day”: one day for everyone around the world to replicate my generosity experiment, to practice radical generosity.”

Long story short, it has taken off. And today there are Generosity Day Ambassadors who are working to reclaim Valentine’s Day from the greeting card and heart-shaped box industry and make it a day that’s all about saying “yes” to helping others. Here’s a quick video that explains what Generosity Day is all about.

When a volunteer from Generosity Day contacted Masterminds Advertising asking for guidance in spreading the word about their “holiday” based on kindness, generosity and love, their response was to design a Facebook app using ShortStack. The app, appropriately titled “Share the Love” includes features for users to learn more about Generosity Day, get inspired and share their story.
